Mille Lacs Energy offers the following optional services to our electric members. Click for additional information.
Outdoor Lighting - For those wishing to have lights maintained by the cooperative.
Surge Suppression - To reduce external surges before entering your home or business.
Outdoor Lighting
The following outdoor lighting options are available through MLEC:
Platted areas, lakeshore developments, and any property of less than 5 acres
100 W HPS light with a “Dark Sky Compliant” shield.
100 W HPS has an output of 9,500 lumens – Cost $6.75 per
month
Rural area lighting (5 or more acres)
100 W HPS light with “Dark Sky Compliant” shield.
or
100 W HPS light without the “Dark Sky Compliant” shield.
100 W HPS has an output of 9,500 lumens – Cost $6.75 per
month
150 W HPS light with “Dark Sky Compliant” shield.
or
150 W HPS light without the “Dark Sky Compliant” shield.
150 W HPS has an output of 15,500 lumens – Cost $7.95
per month.
The Cooperative agrees to install your choice above. The light will be installed
on the premises of the above named patron at a location mutually agreed
upon. The light shall be placed on the Cooperative’s poles only. The
Cooperative shall furnish, install and maintain the light during a normal
work day. The light shall remain the property of the Cooperative.

Surge Suppression Device
All appliances are subject to damaging surges caused by lightning, squirrels, birds, and tree limbs. Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative offers meter-based protection to reduce externally generated surges before they enter the house through the electric power lines.
MLEC offers this device for $3.95 per month, plus an installation fee of $10.65. MLEC also suggests that you install point of use protectors on sensitive electronics such as computers, stereos, and televisions.
