| The spring orphan season has started and will be going full speed for the next few weeks. We've received our first orphaned Great Horned Owl already. The ice has stayed on the lakes a little longer than usual and that makes it difficult for the waterfowl that have arrived already. For the second year in a row the DNR has had to catch some birds that landed on the sewage settling pond near Crosby and became sick. Today we received 6 birds (3 loons & 3 grebes) that had been rescued and needed to be cleaned up and checked over. According to the DNR there are about 24 birds total in the pond and they will catch the remainder when they can and deliver them to W&F. For more information about this, click HERE. |
