Pilot Program (June-August 2025)
Help us save energy on days when energy is most expensive to produce. If you decrease your average energy usage by at least 5 kilowatt-hours each month, MLEC will give you $5 cashback.
How does it work? MLEC will send you an email and text to let you know when reducing your electric usage is most important. If you conserve energy during these critical peak-times, you could see a rebate as a line item on your monthly energy bill.
The pilot program has a cap of 100 members. All participants must be signed up for SmartHub before enrolling in the Conserve for Cash program. All participants will be entered in a prize drawing just for signing up!
The Conserve for Cash Program is one way MLEC is putting control into members’ hands. See your bill decrease by making a few changes to your energy use habits!
The terms of this pilot program can change at any time.
Frequently Asked Questions
A peak-time occurs when there is a very high amount of electricity usage on the system during a specific period (most often hot and humid summer days) in June, July, and August. These peak-times are when it is the most expensive to meet the electricity demands of our members.
If you reduce your average peak-time usage by at least 5 kWh (kilowatt hours) per month, you will earn $5 off your monthly energy bill. You could earn up to $15 off for the length of the program. Simple changes like turning off appliances, adjusting your thermostat, etc., during peak-times can help you earn money back from your cooperative.
If, for any reason, you don’t reduce your average peak-time usage or it happens to go up, you simply won’t get a rebate. You will never be penalized for not reducing your energy during a peak-time and your eligibility for earning a rebate during other peak-times will not be affected. However, you will still have a chance to win the prize at the end of the pilot program just for signing up!
