As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold, MLEC has taken steps to protect our employees’ well-being to be better prepared to keep their lights on. We have put together these updates for our members. Please refer to this page for the most up-to-date information the Cooperative has available.
MLEC Lobby Closed
In an effort to keep our employees and members healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak and continue to provide reliable electric service to our members, the Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative lobby will be closed to the public beginning March 17th.
MLEC staff will continue to monitor the situation closely and determine what is needed to keep our employees and our members healthy during this time of concern.
Annual Meeting Postponed
Mille Lacs Energy's Annual Meeting, originally scheduled for April 23, 2020 at the 40 Club Convention Center, will be postponed. The Cooperative is following federal and state mandates as they occur and will select a new date. More information will be announced as it is available.
Home Visits
Internal office operations will continue as normal and due dates will remain the same. However, if a home visit is required by an MLEC employee, we may ask a few additional questions prior to their visit. This is only to ensure the safety of both parties.
Bill Payment Options
If you usually pay your bill in person, we encourage you to pay online, pay by phone, pay by mail, or use our drop box at our Aitkin office.
If you have questions or concerns, please call our office at (218) 927-2191 or (800) 450-2191.
MLEC Fiber
MLEC Fiber customers currently on the 50 MB speed tier will be increased to 100 MB. This will go into effect starting on March 30th through May 29th. We are doing everything we can to help our members during this time when kids are remote learning and more people are required to work from home.

Need an Internet connection to work or study? We can help!
MLEC has Free Wi-Fi for anyone to use from the convenience of their cars.

Control Schedule
In light of Governor Walz’s Executive Order Directing Minnesotans to Stay at Home, Great River Energy (our wholesale power provider) is planning to make a change to the Off-Peak Water heating program schedule to heat water from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. during the weekdays and remain uncontrolled on weekends. GRE will maintain this schedule for the duration of the executive order, which is set to expire on April 10, 2020.
If you have questions or concerns, please call our office at (218) 927-2191 or (800) 450-2191.
