MLEC Fiber is excited to announce two major broadband expansion projects set for construction in summer 2025, bringing high-speed fiber access to over 550 additional residents in Aitkin County.
These projects reflect MLEC’s ongoing mission to close the digital divide in our region and ensure rural communities have access to the same quality of broadband as urban areas.
Cedar Lake Project
- Total Investment
$4 million - Funding Partners
Minnesota DEED Border to Border Grant – $1,808,768
Aitkin County – $25,000 - Impact
Over 421 residents will gain access to gigabit-speed fiber internet, delivering fast and reliable connectivity to this underserved area.
Long Lake Project
- This expansion continues MLEC Fiber’s commitment to
bringing robust Internet service to more rural homes and businesses
in Aitkin County. - Impact
This project will pass 133 residents along Highway 47 and Nuthatch Avenue.
