MLEC is providing an update on the recent outages along the Great River Road in mid-April. We understand these outages were inconvenient and appreciate your patience as our crews worked to resolve them.
At approximately 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, our crews responded to an outage affecting the area from 169 and 210, extending north and west along the Great River Road.
Crews determined that the underground cable supplying the Great River Road beneath the Mississippi River had failed. Repairs were completed, and power was
restored by approximately 7:00 a.m. Sunday.
Later that evening, around 10:00 p.m., the same underground cable failed again. Crews restored service by approximately 3:00 a.m. Monday, when an additional fault was found. With assistance from a second crew, further repairs were made, and power was restored by 10:00 a.m. Monday.
At approximately 6:15 p.m. on Monday, April 13, the same underground cable failed again. Crews responded, completed repairs, and restored power by approximately 11:30 p.m.
Because these issues continued, we decided on Tuesday morning to construct an overhead tie line along the Great River Road to provide a more stable power supply. Our crews installed just over half a mile of overhead line and energized the tie line on Tuesday evening. See map below.
