Fiber to the Home (FTTH) is the installation and use of optical fiber from a central point directly to individual residences and businesses to provide unprecedented high-speed Internet access. Fiber uses light signals to transmit data. It provides a much faster connection speed and carrying capacity than twisted pair conductors, DSL, or coaxial cable. At speeds up to 10 Gigabit per second, fiber Internet delivers faster downloads and uploads with no buffering.
- The technician will complete a diagram and notes for construction based on information from your meeting.
- Construction crews will bury a fiber service drop from the main line box near your property to your home.
- The splicing company will splice/connect the line at your house box after the service drop line construction is complete.
- You will be contacted by phone to set up an appointment for final installation at your location.
Yes, but we encourage you to use our Premium Wi-Fi router. This router uses the latest technology and is optimal for supporting up to 10 Gig. If the router fails, Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative (MLEC) will replace it at no cost to you.
Although we will be required to dig a trench or bore across your yard to provide you with a fiber connection, our goal is to treat your property as if it were our own. Our contractors will be responsible to promptly restoring your property to a condition as close to the original as possible.
