New Member Information

Welcome to MLEC!

We are happy to have you as a MLEC member.
Read below to learn more about our cooperative and your member benefits.

Start, Transfer or Stop Service

If you need to start, transfer, or stop service with Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative, please contact our main office at (218) 927-2191.

About Us

As a not-for-profit electric cooperative, we work 24/7 to provide our members and businesses the most reliable and affordable electric service possible. Learn more about the history of MLEC.

Seven Cooperative Principles

Cooperatives have been around since the 1800s! They are nothing new, but the principles might not be as widely known. Cooperatives are not just electric either.
They cross many industries including agriculture, finance, healthcare and grocery. Ever hear of Land O' Lakes, REI or Ace Hardware? Learn more about each of the cooperative principles we live by.

Member Benefits

Being a member has its rewards! You will receive our monthly Outlet newsletter, which highlights co-op news, events, contests, recipes and more. In addition, members are eligible for capital credits and youth program opportunities. Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative also hosts and Annual Meeting every year where our members gather to hear the state of the cooperative, meet with our staff and other members and enjoy dinner with giveaways. Lastly, we have great concern for our communities and you'll often see us participating in many events, so make sure to check out our latest community connection events and activities.

Get to know your Board of Directors

In cooperative nature, your Board of Directors is elected by members and guides the business and affairs of the cooperative. Being a member that elects to vote is one of our core seven cooperative principles.

Bylaws and Rights

As a member, know your rights. Cooperatives are democratically member controlled, and as such, we operate under our bylaws and regulations. Review these documents to know more about how we operate.
